Product Spotlight: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Eyeshadow Base in original (Old Packaging)

This is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Eyeshadow Base in original (Old Packaging).

The website says: Primer Potion gives your more vibrant CREASE-FREE shadow for 24 hours! (Since it now comes in a squeeze tube, get this “vintage genie bottle while you can!).”

The packaging says: Take your eyeshadow to a new level! A sweep of this miracle product before your favorite shadow delivers vibrant color that lasts all day, with absolutely no creasing! The universal cream blends flawlessly into every skin tone. Loved by makeup junkies and beauty editors alike, Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a cult favorite and our #1 selling product.”

First Impressions: This is the old packaging, and I know that. I like this product, and I think this packaging is cuter than the new packaging, but the new packaging is more efficient.

Packaging: This is the old packaging, the “genie bottle” This legitimately a genie bottle, and it’s so cute! The applicator is a doe-foot brush, but it is bent, which is nifty. This packaging got replaced because everyone said that it was too hard to get all of the product out. I do have a tube of the new packaging, so I will be doing a sort-of Product Spotlight for that as well.

Scent: Kylor and I both think that this smells similar to old paint. . . . :/ Luckily, it’s not too strong of a smell.

Color/Pigmentation: This is pretty sheer, but it does look similar to a very light concealer, but it becomes sheer when you blend it out.

Staying Power: This is one of the top-selling and most famous eyeshadow primers ever, and this is a cult favorite makeup product. This does last all day, and I’ve never had a problem with it, and I’ve never heard of anyone who has:)

Details On Mine: When this packaging was being discontinued, it was included on one of the Urban Decay sales that was featured on Hautelook. I had a giftcard to Hautelook, so I purchased this since it was 1/2 off. I paid $9.00 USD for mine, and it is the full-size genie bottle, 0.34 FL OZ. I have a deluxe sample size of this in the new packaging, a sample of this in greed and I used to have a deluxe sample size of this (genie bottle and all), so yeah – I would def repurchase. I really wanna try the other shades of this, too :)

Directions/How I Use It: (From the website:) “A little goes a long way! Apply a thin coat and let dry, then apply Eyeshadow as you normally would. Then DARE it to crease. (Double-dog dare it, even!)” I apply this pretty much how the directions say.

Price/Availability: This is available here for $19.00 USD (ON SALE NOW!) $7.00 USD for the genie bottle packaging/0.34 FL OZ.

Other shades: This is available in original, eden, greed, sin.

  1. I hate the packaging in these so bad. I feel like so much product was wasted before they changed it to a tube. This was the first eye shadow primer that I ever used but I tend to use Too Faced Shadow Insurance more. The thing I don’t like about Too Faced is how it separates. Can have it all, I guess.
